Marine Equipment Trade Show - METS 2017

As they have for decades, marine industry professionals from all over the world will gather in Amsterdam on November 14 to 16 for the annual METSTRADE show. This event is the largest and most frequented B2B event, and this year promises no different. 

There will be over 1400 exhibiting companies spread across three pavillions, catering to over 15,000 visitors. The top 2017 themes include innovation, market developments, environmental awareness, and on-site networking.

Construction and Material Pavillion

This part of the show specialises in raw materials and composites for the marine industry. Live demonstrations of production processes will showcase new and innovative materials. Exhibitors include Gurit, Wessex Resins & Adhesives Ltd., Blokmakerij Ording, and Diab. Top experts will hold round table discussions regarding the latest developments and materials for boat construction & recycling techniques. 

Featured guests for 2017 include Paolo Manganelli, Valerio Corniani, Giovanni Belgrano, Geoff Stock, and Giuseppe Coccia. Visitors will also be treated to the Material Xperience, a showcase of new developments in digital techniques and innovative environmental advancements such as recycled and bio-based materials.

New Round table event for Construction in Process Stage

On the second day of METSTRADE The Construction in Process Stage will include a new round table session on boat construction and recycling techniques featuring an impressive line-up of speakers and participants from a wide range of disciplines. There will also be a series of demonstrations of manufacturing processes throughout the Show.

Organised in cooperation with Simonetta Pegorari, a renowned communications & marketing specialist in composite materials, the event will focus on the highly topical subject of new materials and construction techniques for boats and yachts and end-of-life of FRP materials. The round table also provides a forum for the exchange of ideas and discussion of the latest environmental, technical and regulatory issues.

Marina and Yard Pavillion

This Pavillion will host numerous lectures, round tables, and debates specialising in inspiring new developments and inventions in the marine industry. MATERIA will present their newest materials in yacht design, including 3D printed boat parts and the world’s first 3D printed submarine.

Neil Chapman, Pierre Barbleu, and Willem Dekker will take the Innovation Stage to discuss the developments on End-of-Life Boats. And there will also be a panel focusing on ‘How does the Leisure Marine Industry adapts to future environmental demands?’. Guests for this event include Christoph Ballin, Renaud Tourte, and Michaël Steenhof.

Recently announced, the biannual ICOMIA World Marinas Conference which took place during METSTRADE last year will be hosted in 2018 by the Greek Marinas Association from 25–27 October in Athens, Greece. IWMC is aimed at marina owners, managers, developers, consultants, service providers, government officials, equipment manufacturers, nautical tourism promoters, and port and harbour operators. 

Superyacht Pavillion

This area of the show, known as the SYP is dedicated to the global superyacht industry. The Superyacht Forum will take place here, offering unparalleled networking opportunities and a huge selection of the yachting industry's most inspiring innovations.

The DAME Design Awards

Now in their 27th year, the DAME Awards exist to recognze excellence in design across the marine sector and this year the Jury has announced that 64 products from a total of 122 entries have been nominated for the final round. 

The DAME winners will be announced during the Breakfast Briefing on the opening day and both nominated and winning products will be on display in the I-nnovationLAB Stage in Hall 6.
