Asociación Ondine has released their annual report reviewing all events, outreach programmes and achievements of 2017.

The report demonstrates that in just 12 short months, with three paid staff and a team of incredible and passionate volunteers, anything is possible!

Together the organisation has made a real impact in marine conservation and moved ever closer to achieving one simple objective - a clean and healthy Balearic Sea.

During 2017 Asociación Ondine organised 13 beach cleans and two on the sea floor. Approximately 870 volunteers helped remove more than 2,2 tons of rubbish while helping raise awareness and collect valuable data on local plastic pollution. In addition, over 600m of ghost nets (abandoned industrial fishing nets) was removed from the new marine reserve of Sa Dragonera.

The invaluable army of supporters and collaborators includes Mission Océan, Ibiza limpia and OceanCare. In 2017, celeb endorsement arrived in the form of German rock band Itchy, who participated in a beach clean and underwater clean, before creating videos to highlight the devastating impact of pollution they had witnessed. Meanwhile, Fiona Bruce spearheaded the organisation of Asociación Ondine's largest fundraising event so far, the fantastic Sea Soirée masquerade party which raised a total of €17,200.

With growing awareness among the public and the yachting community, Asociación Ondine are looking forward to making further inroads with marine conservation in 2018 as they apply pressure for the establishment of Marine Protected Areas and continue their successful community initiatives, under the umbrella of the Dos Manos campaign, to engage Balearic locals and school children.
