Impressive Pre-Season Lineup at Rivergate

Rivergate Brisbane 140

Rivergate Marina & Shipyard has had a busy build up to the season carrying out maintenance work and refits on champion racing yachts including Comanche, Wild Oats XI, Dorade, V70, Black Jack and 100 Black Jack (formerly Alfa Romeo II), and the impressive 33m sailing yacht Cygnus Montanus.

And the current line-up includes MY Aurora, MY Whistler, MY Sahana, MY Pursuit, MY Big Fish, MY Aquamarina, MY Mohasewei, SY Cannonball and SY Southern Cloud  carrying our repairs and refit work before setting off to charter or cruise the South Pacific.

The Danish-built, 40m schooner SY Southern Cloud is Australia’s largest charter yacht boating triple masts at 35m in height, and required particular expertise. Meanwhile, 35m MY Mohasewei built by Cantieri di Pisa is preparing for Australian survey, hoping to become a new addition to the Sydney charter market.

BIG FISH at Rivergate

As one of the world’s most sophisticated luxury explorer yachts, 45m MY Big Fish needs no introduction. Built by McMullen & Wing she boasts ground-breaking, high-tech materials, with cutting edge technology and amenities allowing her to venture literally anywhere in the world.

September to December is a peak period for Rivergate as the international cruising yachts escape the winter in the northern hemisphere and head to Asia Pacific for the season.

“Rivergate’s reputation with captains globally means when they are in our region, this is their choice when it comes to repairs, maintenance and refit work. Brisbane offers a great climate all year round, we’re cost effective and easy access to pristine cruising grounds.” said Rivergate's General Manager, Andrew Cannon.

Andrew confirms that the number of international boats coming through is on the rise, and he believes a presence at international boat shows would further boost numbers, but the current charter regulations must change to give foreign-flagged superyachts the option to charter to make the region more attractive.

Brisbane is very well-resourced for superyachts with 20 workshops at Rivergate and around 140 marine professionals onsite alongside further local contractors.

“Rivergate delivers exceptional service to budget and deadline – and that’s our point of difference. We aim to provide the service and skills superyachts can’t get anywhere else in the world,” said Andrew. “Through word of mouth, networking and events like the Monaco Yacht Show and Singapore Yacht Show, Rivergate is very well known. That’s great testament to the breadth and depth of skills of our tenants.”
