Startup Arena

Seatec's Startup Arena is dedicated to business innovation with some of the youngest companies in the sector delivering a five minute 'elevator pitch'. Another key attraction will be a technical conference exploring the use of 3D printing in the marine and shipbuilding industries.

Abitare il mare - Living the Sea

This year the concept of 'living the sea' returns to Seatec with a dedicated area for events, competitions and debates to stimulate ideas around new lifestyle choices and sustainable practices in our relationship with the sea.

Flying the flag for Italy

In 2015, the Italian shipbuilding industry exported yachts, pleasure craft and sports boats to the value of 1.7 billion Euros, representing 16% of world exports (source UCINA 2016 - “Boating in numbers ‒ Market analysis for the year 2015”).

The region of Tuscany has the highest concentration of shipbuilding companies taking into account not only production, but also the supply chain of subcontracting, service and repairs, wholesale and rentals, with around 2,000 companies and 12,000 employees (source CNA Nautica:“Dynamics and market perspectives of the recreational boating industry ‒ fourth edition”).

Local companies in Tuscany - La Spezia, Massa-Carrara, Lucca, Pisa and Livorno - accounted for just over 40% of the national turnover of shipbuilding, with exports of ships and boats representing around 30% of the national total (Ucina 2016).
